Excellent suggestions for promoting LinkedIn groups Susanne! I especially like "Ring all the bells! Promote your group on your Web site...", however, it's unclear how to best do this. I would like to promote my LinkedIn subgroup for my college alumni group on the college's alumni website. I could hack some HTML together with a simple icon and link to this subgroup and impose on the college's webmaster to assemble and insert it, but I would prefer an eye catching widget like Facebook's "fan box" widget (http://www.facebook.com/facebook-widgets) that automatically generates javascript to insert into a webpage. I cannot find something like this for LinkedIn. Am I missing it?

Hi Mary,
Thanks for the mention! I'm glad you found the article useful. The Bing - Yahoo merge will be interesting for the SEO landscape. I'm hoping the new Bing will increase competition and put Google on its toes. We'll just have to wait and see.

"The squeaky wheel gets the oil, Or replaced."

We've alredy made Google a giant. Prepare for an exodus. There's too many alternatives like youku, soapbox, thepiratebay.org, isohunt, limewire, etc ... for people to endure such intrusive advertising.

If you can't block the ad in your hosts file you simply block the site hosting the ad.

Thank you for this post. I really never thought about the internal linking of my site as much as the external linking. I will definitely read your post on linking architecture.
