When you boil everything down, people come to the Web for two reasons. One is to be entertained. The other is to find answers. If you combine both, you have a killer Web site with all the traffic and positive responses you need.
Easy, right? Well, if it were, we would be spared the pain of a lot of awful Web sites. Let’s say you have a decent Web site, it’s good-looking, easy-to-use, and full easy-to-access information – just what people are looking for. But how do you get people to the site to use it?
More and more, social media is playing a major role in delivering eyeballs to a Web site, and hopefully, once they are there, buying, signing-up, completing forms, or whatever it is you want them to do. In his brief video, Beyond the Website: Using Social Media and More for Sales and Leads, Marketing Consultant Jim Kukral discusses the use of social networking and more.
Before the Web, Jim says, we had newspapers, TV, and word of mouth. We still have those, but but everything is moving so much faster. Blogs, micro-blogs, Search Engine Optimization, Facebook, Wikis, social bookmarking, and so much more are the new tools that are there for our use – and for the most part – are free. You can and should be using them.
If you haven’t already started to use social media, it’s easy to get started. Just Google “getting started with social media.” You’ll have your pick of articles to read. Here’s a good one.
Start integrating social media into your Web presence. A Twitter tweet here and a LinkedIn account there…. You’ll be glad you did.
