Spinfield: Web marketing trends today, tomorrow, and beyond…

Online marketing blog produced by IdeaStar, Inc.

Using Wikipedia as a research center for search engine optimization yields great information.   The free online encyclopedia is popular, user generated, contains millions of articles on various topics, ranks well in Google organic search, and is monitored and edited.  It’s a tremendous trove of facts which yield keywords and topic information.

I stumbled upon  an articles by Ann Smarty in Search Engine Journal.  Three Awesome Wikipedia Tools and How They Can Be Useful highlights:

  • Wikipedia Traffic Statistics -  Helps estimate how much traffic a key term might get.
  • Similpedia.org – Allows you to find similar content on Wikipdia.  Great for keyword and association research.
  • Deletionpedia – An archive of deleted pages from the English language version of Wikipedia. Use to establish trends or as a topic source for blog articles.

I’m sure there are other online Wikipedia tools out there which have a SEO slant.  Let me know what you use.  In the mean time, thanks Ann. I think I’ll give these a try.
