Oh those cute little title tags. They appear in the blue index line at the top of each Web page, and, have the daunting task of telling people – and more important search engines – what the page is about. The title also appears as a hyperlink in the SERP’s (search engine results pages) after somebody searches for a specific keyword phrase.
Yet many Web site owners gloss over title tags, leave them blank, use words and phrases not relevant to the page, or use the same title tag for the whole Web site. Doing so is a major mistake.
Without proper, keyword rich title tags for every page, your Web site will suffer in the rankings of major search engines like Google and Yahoo!. Put a little time and thought into your title tags, and your rankings will soar.
