Spinfield: Web marketing trends today, tomorrow, and beyond…

Online marketing blog produced by IdeaStar, Inc.

Earlier  I mentioned some green social networks, and gave a few examples for companies to use these social networks in their green marketing campaigns. I mentioned four green social networks, and initially planned on writing one article featuring details of each. The more I researched these networks and what they each have to offer, the more I realized that would make for a really long post. So I decided to split this up into a series of four. This first post  focuses on Lime.com and what you can find there.

Lime.com

Lime.com, acquired in August 2007 by Gaiam.com, is a green social network focused on healthy living and living the green lifestyle. Here are some of the features you find at lime.com:

  • Community - Create a profile, connect with other members, and visit the forums.
  • Lime Local - Online directory (in beta) of local green and healthy living businesses in your area. This directory is user generated.
  • TV & Podcasts - Watch segments of TV programs on food, fashion, health, mediation and fitness. Listen to podcasts of different shows such as The Lazy Environmentalist or Ask Dr. Weil.
  • Blogs & articles - With individual sections devoted to food, health, green home, balance, and planet, find blogs and articles on topics that most interest you.
  • Live the Change - This section is devoted to blogs and articles that focus on ways you can live a healthier lifestyle. There is also a walk-out, where people are documenting the number of minutes they walked, with a combined goal set at 24,900 miles, or one lap around the world.

My favorite feature - The meditation room. If I feel particularly stressed, I like to visit the meditation room, where I can stream sounds of the forest, water, or even space to add some calm to my day.  You can also download the rooms to your iPod or subscribe at iTunes.

Stay tuned for the next in the series. I will focus on Care2.com and what you can find there!
