Spinfield: Web marketing trends today, tomorrow, and beyond…

Online marketing blog produced by IdeaStar, Inc.

I feel like I hit the jackpot. While browsing around the Web the other day, I discovered webconfs.com SEO Tools and Webmaster Utilities. The site has an awesome collection of search engine optimization tools.  I looked to find out who built and/or sponsors the site, but I couldn’t find it. So whoever you are, thanks.

I have a whole slew of favorite free tools that I use, but they are scattered over many Web sites. Webconfs.com has a list of tools right there on one page.  How convenient! Tools include:

  • Similar Page Checker
  • Search Engine Spider Simulator
  • Backlink Anchor Text Analysis
  • Backlink Builder
  • Backlink Summary
  • Keyword Density Checker
  • Redirect Check
  • Link Price Calculator
  • Reciprocal Link Check
  • Domain Stats Tool
  • Domain Age Tool
  • Keyword Playground
  • URL Rewriting Tool, and more

I haven’t had a chance to try the tools yet.  But it was nice to find them, and I’ll be checking them out soon.

The Web site also includes a Search Engine Optimization Tutorial, Search Engine Optimization Articles, a Search Engine Optimization Quiz, Search Engine Optimization Forum, Search Engine Optimization Comics, a puzzle and Web tools. That’s a lot of SEO! Visit the site and let me know what you think.

  1. Those seem to be some helpful tools. I liked the keyword cloud. That really tells me what I am putting out to make sure it matches up with my goals.

I tried using the Yahoo rank, but could not see the images. I am going to try and check that out on my other computer because I think that might be useful.

Another good resource I use is HubSpot’s Website Grader. I think it could be better (e.g. directory searches), but it seems to give a good idea of how well a website does.

Thanks for the website. I am going to add that to my arsenal of website tools (Google Webmaster tools being another)

  2. Thanks Leo. I’ll have to check out HubSpot’s Web site.

  3. When I use the backlink tool, like so many others I’ve used, the majority of my backlinks don’t show up. This is especially true of links in the resource boxes of articles I have written, but also a variety of other links. Any idea why this happens or how I can correct it?

    Thank you.

  4. Tina, There are so many different reasons why this might occur.

    1. Are you posting your articles on sites owned by other people?
It’s possible that the site you are submitting your article to might be adding a no-follow tag. More and more site owners are doing this so they don’t get people commenting on their articles for the sole purpose of getting a link back to their site.

    2. Are you talking about your own site?
    a. It might be that your links have not been indexed yet, or that the site is considered “low-quality” by the search engines and the backlinks are not counted.
    b. It’s possible that your backlinks are not accessible. I happened to notice while taking a quick look at your site that there are a few broken links. Search engines need links to access the pages of your site. If they get to a page that is broken, they don’t know where to go. (contributing to your quality score)
    c. It looks like you have some nice indexing on your blog. If you are referring to your site itself, are the unindexed items behind a login screen?

These are just a few of the possibilities. Not knowing all the details, I would suggest you talk to your SEO specialist or post to an SEO forum or two, like http://www.highrankings.com/forum/ or http://forums.seochat.com, and maybe they could give you more insight.

    Good luck!
    Susanne
