Like I have mentioned before, the use of video is increasing daily and is starting to catch more attention than the same information reported in text. Some people may learn more from the visual, and might pick up on the information being shared more easily. Others just enjoy the video media form and how things can be presented.
Another tool has been created in order to share quick, short, videos. 12seconds has the same ideas as the ever expanding Twitter , only now your short bit of information is in the video format. With more cell phones and computers being made with built in cameras it is easy for people to record their 12seconds and post it to the page.
Katie Greene added in her blog intitled: “Video Microblogging Has Arrived A San Francisco-based startup called 12seconds is a video version of Twitter, but how useful will it be?” , that “Millions of people use Twitter, and many of them are interested in testing out new ways to update their status.” Video may just be the answer. For a quick summary of how 12seconds started up be sure to check out Katie’s blog.
Do you think you would use 12seconds once in the morning to explain your day, update throughout the day, before bed to summarize your day, or stick to using text so you aren’t seen? Would you have to re-record your 12 second clip several times until it turned out just the way you liked it, or would you be able to do it the first time and be okay with the outcome? Some people don’t like being in front of the camera, while others love it, so it will be interesting to watch the population of 12seconds.
It might be wise for your company to create a 12seconds account. That way you can update your clients throughout the day with a short, quick, and simple video summarizing new events or company news. Add a link on your website that takes them directly to your 12seconds video for easy access.
