If someone walked up to you on the street and asked you “What is Web 2.0?”, what would you tell them?
In simple terms, Web 1.0 allowed your users to READ your content. Web 2.0 enables your users to WRITE your content for you.
To expand on that, when describing Web 2.0 to my clients, I try not to quote a definition or get to “techy”.
Basically I say:
Web 2.0 is a collection of different things that allow your customers to interact with your company, your brand and/or your product. Things like blogs, vlogs and social networks make up the user-generated sites we like to call Web 2.0. It allows them to interact with you and also allows you as a company to join the conversation.
Why does it matter to business? It allows your business to connect to an individual on a more personal one-to-one level, thereby instilling trust between that individual and your company which will lead to a conversion or action.
