I remember watching an episode of South Park where they had made fun of all of the YouTube “stars” and had recreated most of the people from those videos in a big fight-free-for-all that revolved around them brawling over who was going to get paid first for their Internet fame.
The “Leave Britney alone” guy got mauled by the “sneezing panda” and the “chocolate rain” guy shot the “dramatic chipmunk“. It was all pretty silly, but it reminded me of all the different types of videos out there and different angles there are to get people’s attention.
I came across a study by Mike Laurie that categorizes these different types of videos and their design patterns; and gives a brief analysis as to how these different types of videos could be used for advertising. It’s a really interesting article, enjoy!
