Google Maps is taking over the world, literally! For easy access to learning about locations you’ve never been to Google Maps is the place to look. It’s especially helpful for those who are going to be moving or traveling. I personally used Google Maps to learn where different businesses were located around my new home. Rather than just driving around looking, Google Maps saved me both time and money.
The latest addition to Google Maps is a feature that allows you to see the “Street View,” and scroll along the street, as if you were walking/driving. This feature has mostly only been added to big cities in the U.S. but is likely to spread.
Below is an example of a “Street View” in downtown Cleveland. From this view I am able to scroll either NW or SE to move down the street.
This feature can be used if you are looking for landmarks, or things that you may recognize when actually driving to the location that has been pinpointed. It’s also just fun to look at places that you have never been to see how they are set up and what they have to offer for future travel plans.
