Yahoo! continues to chug along making lots of changes. Here are some more news events from last week in the busy search world:
- Yahoo! has made a deal with another holding company, Havas, to help improve their ad serving. Last month, Yahoo! made a similar deal with the WPP Group.
- Yahoo! continues its ongoing struggle with Carl Icahn. Icahn has issued yet another letter to Yahoo!, regarding his plans. Yahoo! responded with a statement of their own.
- Yahoo! has partnered with WalMart to sell display and video ads on walmart.com.
- Yahoo! is trying out a new form of search, that is customizable! It is called Yahoo! Search Gallery. Search Gallery is currently in Beta and allows users to customize their search results. There are different enhancements to choose from, which will lead to different items included in your search results. You can find out more information on the Yahoo! Search Blog.
- Even MORE Yahoo! updates from last week!
- Google will now offer TV campaign analytics. The current statistics available include: impressions delivered, number of ads played, cost and CPM.
- Google has announced the release of the new AdWords Editor Version 6.0. The new editor includes helpful items such as new bulk editing tools, better downloading for account statistics, and a new option for updating minimum CPC bids.
- Google has added their ‘Google Labs’ feature to Gmail. There are 13 new features that Gmail users are free to try out!
- Many people were not impressed with Google’s new favicon. The Google Blog now explains more of the logo changing process and asks for users to submit any suggestions they have regarding the new icons.
- Microsoft is also experimenting with search, by testing out SearchTogether. Users must have a Windows Live ID and Messenger, but after downloading the plugin can collaborate with others to search.

Frankly, I’m surprised that Yahoo! and Microsoft couldn’t come to an agreement regarding the buyout. I suppose with such HUGE amounts of money involved, and a complete take over, it’s no surprise… But I’m sure that Yahoo! has enough advertising power to keep Microsoft’s interest, and they’ll be able to work out SOME kind of deal…
