A quick and easy Internet marketing tool, especially for smaller companies, is the use of online videos. With Web sites such as YouTube and Metacafe , used primarily for posting and viewing short videos, the tools are there; all that’s needed is the creative idea and a little effort.

Videos that are posted, even for businesses, do not always have to have the “corporate feel” to them. They can be filmed with a shaky hand, and very little acting skills as long the point of the video can be easily understood by the viewer.

A great example of a company whose primary objective is to make videos, and markets themselves by posting their work on YouTube and Metacafe is Common Craft. By watching their video on YouTube, I was also able to find a link to their home Web site. After following the link I was able to learn more about the company, and what they do.

When posting your company’s Web site with your posted videos, you are giving your audience a quick and easy way to find out more about your company. Attracting people to your site may lead to clients/business.

Even companies that have nothing to do with the Internet, or online services are promoting themselves with videos. While I was on YouTube I typed in “Roofing Companies” to see how common it was for non-Internet related companies to post videos. Seven pages of results showed up, some giving me information about roofing companies, while others were random videos having something to do with roofs.

The keywords used in the search box can be used to a company’s advantage. Of course every video that pops up isn’t going to be exactly what you are looking for, but people spend tons of time looking through videos online; someone is bound to stumble across your business’s video.
