A few new things of interest for people who market and build Web sites.
- A Magic Button for Google Maps. Need more information? The Google Lat Long Blog announced last week a “more” button has been added to Google Maps. Areas of information include geo-tagged YouTube videos, localized Wikipedia content, and pictures.
- Yummy New Del.icio.us Tool Bar for IE. Social bookmark manager Del.icio.us announced an early beta release of its bookmark extension for Internet Explorer. Similar to the recently released Firefox3 beta extension, the IE version includes a sidebar and tool bar for quick access to your bookmarks. Visit the del.icio.us blog for more information.
- Google Expands YouTube Insight. The free video analytics tool for YouTube has added some new features. A new demographics tab now displays view count information broken down into age group, gender, or a combination of the two. Statistics regarding the combined total views of all the videos you’ve uploaded are also available. Find these new metrics under the “Demographics” tab within the Insight dashboard. Click on the “Insight” button under “Account > My Videos.”
- Google Opens Content Network to Third Parties. Google is now accepting third-party advertising tags on the Google content network in North America. Advertisers can now work with third parties to serve and track display adds. Previously, Google previously did not have proper controls in place to allow this.
- Read to Me. Give your eyes a rest. ReadTheWords.com is offering free use of its beta reading software. Choose from 14 different reader. Adjust the pitch and speed. Select from English, Spanish, or French. It takes about one minute to generate a one-hour recording. Listen to your recording online, download it to your ipod, post your reading in your Web site or blog. ReadTheWords began as a means of assisting students with learning disabilities with their studies by means of auditory learning. It has grown to include a host of business applications. Give it a try.
