The fourth and final showing of the day has just kicked off and dinner has promptly arrived. We have been blessed with a nice spread of stuffed steak wraps, green beans, mashed potatoes, salad and deserts.
We began this show with over 20 people logged on awaiting the start of the show. Team Earth Day is hard at work monitoring the live chat requests and watching the video.
Young TCP live chat rep. Tina Ricciardi has spent 45 minutes chatting with a consumer about Mercury in CFLs. He is asking a lot of good questions and wants to start up his own recycling center.
IdeaStar Technical Lead Brian Darby is monitoring the show from the comfort of his couch in front of his LCD TV.
TCP eMarketing Manager Michelle Heffner is working with IdeaStar On-line Marketing Manager Steve Lamb (me) on a follow-up thank you e-mail to be sent out in the morning using IdeaStar’s Pulsar e-mail marketing system.
TCP CTO Joe Vocaire just joined us for the final episode and is partaking in an excellent meal.

This whole production would not have had the success that it did without the great efforts in online marketing. Social networks like MySpace, Facebook and Care2 have all played a key role in getting the word out to the public in a viral effort. E-mail marketing with IdeaStar’s Pulsar e-mail marketing system enabled us to get the word out there to our reps, distributors and educators with whom we have built relationships with. Pulsar also enabled us to send reminder messages and follow-up surveys with all the people who pre-registered and opted-in to this illumiNation event.
We targeted several environmentally conscience bloggers to help get the word out about this event.
The web site itself utilizes the ShareThis tool to allow users to add the content to their favorite social bookmark like Digg and Del.icio.us, post it to the social network profile of MySpace, Twitter and others, or e-mail the content to a friend to learn about.
This entire project is a perfect example of how a global corporation like TCP can utilize web 2.0 to target consumers that they would have never been able to reach through traditional media outlets.
Well, illumiNation 2008 is just about over. There are lots of successes I will take away from this event that will better enable me to market my clients through the web.
